Death and taxes

without health
just sucks!

Yep I had my CT scan
and although I'd always
thought my brain would be
an elegant egg shell blue
alas it's not!
as everybody's it is
black and white :o

Fight or flight?
It isn't Alzheimer's
but somehow
the speed at which my brain
works, cross referencing
and new ideas pouring in
has led to a scream
by my brain
'Stop, slow down or
go under.'

Well I stopped
slowed down
then wondered
where I am?
Doctors pointed to
the nearest
CT scan.
And I thought
OH SHIT.

Specialists breed more specialists... they're not done with me yet but I appreciated my GP's advice about not doing any exercise :D
Never having been the sporting type.. this helps me rehearse my Camille on the couch interpretation.
I'm not dead yet.... I believe that my mind is not the stuff of death rattling.. so I thought I'd drop in and affirm my immortality... we-ll temporary immortality as life pisses me off due to my viewing the big picture so much.

I've been plugged in, tapped with knowing fingers. asked 'does this hurt', been in hospital where I refused to get into hospital garb as a sort of 70s type protest and announced my intention of escaping ASAP.

Saddest moment was an Alzheimer's patient... so lost.

of humour in the cafe?

There was this bloke
called R.Soul
who shrank in shame,
and in full arrogance
declared for all
who cared
his real posting
name.
Arrogant but deeply
insecure
we tolerated his need
to be top dog
for sure

..and there is still
for me the thrill
of sedation
and my darlin'
heart at last
being rescued
from this sea
of past distress :)

We've had a census
here in OZ
and we are not happy
Our new Government
(by a whisker)
has turned Biblical
and is doing
a good imitation
of Herod looking
for baby boys.

Is the mic for this thread still on?

I’ve had about ten short stories published and could try to dig up some of them that may be online if any are interested. A friend and I have also started an online publishing venture. If it succeeds — a very big IF — we would be looking for new writers. Here are the relevant links so far:

Pood Paw Prints

The Pood

Abe 2.0: Welcome to the Asylum, Mr. President

Works coming soon

Pood Paw Prints @ Facebook

Again, if any are interested in reviving this thread, I would be willing to help. :)

I wrote a short story 2 years ago and am curious as to where to get it published. It's a murder mystery and those who've read it love it.
I love writing and it flows easily from an idea. The rest is in the grammatical shaping... I called it "Snapshot"

So it's back
to the rhyme
and the wondering
of time passing
so very quickly
But y'know?
I love this little
planet and despise
those who spoil it

Germaine Greer whom I was in awe of as a first year student already had a reputation for intelligence.. naturally I met her in the Library... she wore black on black and seemed OK to me, so from the Reader's Digest this is what she says about our planet's survival
""Once great wrongs are done, it's rarely possible to undo them. Earth, the most exuberant planet known to exist in any galaxy, carries great wounds upon its lovely face.....And yet in the cracks between the pavements of the expanding cities, seedlings of long ago forests continue to emerge.
Earth keeps on trying to renew itself, after radioactive leak, after nuclear explosion, after earthquake and eruption, after flood and trunami. The planet's powers of recuperation and restoration are almost unbelievable. Give it an inch and it will give you a mile.... Further down we go and we meet the viruses that can change themselves faster than we can find ways of dealing with them....if we colonise Mars we will neeed to take some of them with us."
Germaine is back in Australia and undertook to restore a large tract of land in Q'land. it has been a work in progress for 14 years, subtropical land and it is repaying her work. As she says "The whole process has taken less than an instant of evolutionary time".

I have mended many bridges
as my tongue is sharp
and I regret
not keeping my mouth zipped
Val is probably happy
with his decision
but still as my mother
used to say
"If you can't say something nice
...don't say anything at all."

The motor car!
A little known fact
is that when it first
travelled through
the green fields of home
owners were required
to paint their car
in patterns and colours
of the passing countryside!

It was weekly
at the church hall
which is very subversively
ironic
As we moved in
for the kill
I did wonder
what the nuns
would make of it?
'The Last Dance'
on man we were glorious
sinners
